Principal Investigator

Haijiao LIU, Ph.D.

Dr. Haijiao LIU will join the Department of Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong as a Presidential Assistant Professor in November 2026. He was a postdoctoral scholar in the BIOLines Laboratory, led by Prof. Dan Huh, in the Department of Bioengineering at University of Pennsylvania. He received his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Toronto, his M.A.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Toronto, and his BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from University of Science and Technology of China. Dr. Liu's work has appeared in prestigious journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Science Advances, Biomaterials, ACS Nano, Nature Cell Biology, PNAS, and others. His recent work on vascularized tumor-on-a-chip for in vitro study of CAR-T cell immunotherapy was recognized as one of the top ten research advances in 2025 by Nature Biotechnology.
